If you considering rolling out a new social media strategy –
It’s time to take the word ‘considering’ out of that sentence.
Building a branding strategy on social media is a mandatory part of your business if you plan to grow your business long term.
It’s True…We Need Short Term Leads
We know that consumers are starting their search online. Partnering with Zillow or other online lead generators is necessary for short term leads.
If you are just starting out in your business, you can spend your marketing dollars on short-term leads while building your brand on social media platforms at no cost. From those short-term leads, you’ll gain momentum, reviews, and dollars needed to start thinking long-term.
Your Brand Will Carry You Long Term
The only way to compete with the disruptors of real estate is by having the biggest brand in your local market. In order to be recognized, trusted, and referred in your local market, you must have a strong brand.
Here’s how to start building your brand:
- Produce content DAILY. Consistency matters on every platform, so plan to post every day on Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, TikTok, and LinkedIn.
- Stay away from canned content. It just makes you look like everyone else.
- Start with ONE piece of pillar content. One podcast or show is all you need to get started. Make it something you can repeat every week – NO excuses.
- Build out more content from the pillar piece. Squeeze out as much as you can from your pillar piece: shortened clips for social media, audio clips, blogs, and even behind-the-scenes photos can be used every week.
The Easiest Pillar Content to Create
A Q&A podcast or show is one of the easiest ways to go. You don’t have to schedule guests, you can record multiple shows at once, and the consumer learns from YOU.
Create a three-part show where you answer three questions from consumers every week.
I know what you’re thinking: What questions should I answer?
It’s pretty simple – answer the questions your clients are asking!
Go into your inbox or text messages and pull out all the questions from buyers and sellers over the past year. Create a list of 150 questions, and answer three a week. Congratulations – you just planned out a year’s worth of pillar content!
Don’t Complicate the Formula
One of the biggest mistakes I see people make is complicating the formula. Once you decide on your pillar piece of content, duplicate it every week. Chances are you won’t get many hearts or likes in the beginning. That’s ok. Keep going.
Your show doesn’t have to be flashy, with over-the-top production. It doesn’t have to be something nobody has ever seen before.
Keep things simple so you can stick to it every week.
Educate your consumers and show your personality.
As people see you on their feeds every day, they’ll grow to trust you, and they’ll have that constant reminder that YOU are their local real estate agent.
And that’s how you build your brand for years to come.
