In high school, one of my regular fishing spots was a town reservoir. We walked down the path with our fishing gear, went out in a boat, and threw out shiners as bait. Within minutes, we caught fish. And we could catch fish all day long.
Those of you that have fished before, know the difference between fishing in a reservoir and open waters. At a fully stocked reservoir, it’s easy to catch fish.
What does this have to do with building a brand? Everybody knows some places are going to be easier to fish than others. Just like right now, it’s easier to reach consumers online.
Fully Stocked Pond
This moment in time, if you’re not creating content, you’re basically not fishing in the fully stocked pond. You’re not even throwing your bait into the pond. You’re just standing on the sidelines watching other people fish and catch fish after fish after fish.
Right now online activity is so full of viewers. Every single day we have an unprecedented opportunity to build our brand with:
-
Videos
-
Blogs
-
Instagram clips
-
Quote cards
-
Graphic cards
So many people are searching for new content right; craving new content and information.
Build a Brand Online
It’s never been easier to build a brand online. I always talk about producing content on social media and the importance of a pillar show. But since Facebook and Instagram started, we have never had an opportunity like we have right now, when the ponds are fully stocked.
So I just want to use this time to remind everyone to get out there and produce a ton of content for your business. Make content a daily commitment that you stick to, because this brand grabbing right now this brand building that people are going to do is going to last month after this is over.
Create content that resonates with you and can provide value to your consumers:
-
Become a source of information for your clients by answering frequently asked questions
-
Share Community happenings
-
Give Market Updates
-
Virtual Tours
-
HIghlight businesses that are making a difference
The people you connect with today are not like the fish who will die if you don’t throw them back in. These fish that you’re catching right now are going to stick with your business for a long, long time.
But not if you don’t build the foundation. Not if you don’t go out there and throw the bait into the pond.
