Are you waking up every day with a field trip type of excitement and energy?
Do you pop out of bed, like you’re about to take a flight to the islands?
Think back to grade school with me. Think back to how every day was the same, and it was very mundane. If you were like me, you had to almost drag yourself through the morning.
Or maybe you felt that way in a job that you hated.
Maybe you’re working that job right now.
Create Excitement Every Day
Think of the days you pop out of bed. When you were in school – it was field trip day that escalated excitement. Perhaps now there’s something new happening at work, or you are going on a vacation.
On these exciting days, it doesn’t matter if you got three hours of sleep or ten hours of sleep, you just snap out of bed; your toes barely hit the floor, and you’re zipping through the house, getting everything ready for that day.
The thing is – we can create that type of energy. Here are three tips to bring that level of excitement every day:
Be Obsessed with Growth
I don’t mean just be willing to grow. I mean to actually be obsessed with it.
This tends to happen naturally when you go to a great conference or speak with someone inspiring. Carrying this obsession with growth with you every day not only pushes you to get better, but also encourages those around you to set and achieve new goals.
One of the most important things for your energy levels is to strive to get better every day. Even a small fraction of growth will give you a sense of purpose and drive. Then, when new opportunities come your way, you are able to confidently take them, knowing you have put in the work to prepare.
Work with Other People
No one has ever done anything great in this world alone.
Surround yourself with a team that is pushing towards the same goal. When you’re on a great team and you’re in the middle of a great season, you want to get to that next practice, you want to go play the next game.
On those days you are lacking energy (we all have them), being a part of something special will help fuel your excitement and drive.
Know Your Goals
Are you crystal clear on what the work you’re doing is going to bring you in the end?
I can’t tell you how many people I talk to that are murky about what they want.
If you aren’t clear on your end vision, then there is no point in doing the work. When you have a one-year, five-year, and ten-year vision, you know exactly what you are working for. If your vision is truly the life of your dreams, it makes even mundane tasks more exciting.
If you get a rush of energy just daydreaming about your future, you have the right vision. If it doesn’t excite you, then it’s time to reassess.
Now, these three tips may seem a bit basic.
But I have to tell you – it’s hard work.
Doing these things is critical to generating love and passion for what you’re doing every single day.
