I recently had Emily White and Victoria Tavares on my podcast. In their short time in the real estate industry, they have crushed goals and inspired everyone around them.
Here is some of their advice from our recent chat:
Be Willing to Take a Risk
Emily left a stable salary as a teacher when she entered into real estate, and with that was a lot of concern from others.
“A lot of people told me, ‘Are you sure you want to go into 100% commission-based work? You’re leaving this paycheck, what’s your backup plan?’
I don’t need a backup plan. I will do this.”
Emily White
Entering the real estate industry is a risk because you won’t be getting until at least 60 days after your first deal. I encourage people to have a plan in place, whether that is six months of savings for living expenses or a partner who can help support them as they get started.
When you have a plan – and the determination to succeed – your risk will pay off.
Go All In
Victoria jokes, “I didn’t want to work a 9-5, so instead I work 24-7” – and that includes putting together offers in the middle of the night during a recent trip to Greece!
When you find work that you love and are passionate about, the hours don’t seem to matter as much. In addition, knowing that you will be compensated for putting in all the work allows you to set yourself up for financial success.
Find an Environment that Fuels You
Both Emily and Victoria were drawn to One & Company because of the support and resources, as well as the team culture.
As a solo agent before joining the team, Victoria states,
“I didn’t have the motivation, I didn’t have the resources, I didn’t have the team to back me up…and that’s really what I think helps push me here. Nothing motivates me more than being surrounded by the right people.”
Victoria Tavares
When you find a team or an office that fuels your motivation, supports you, and is able to provide you with incredible training and resources, you will be able to take your career to new heights.
Put in the Work
“It wasn’t until I closed my first six Zillow that I had people start reaching out to me saying ‘Hey, you’re doing a lot of business. I see you out there all day, every day, full time.”
Emily White
In any industry, you have to be willing to put in the work – no matter how many resources your team or office offers. Both of these agents are focused and consistent, putting in the hours, following up, prospecting, and generating leads – even when they are swamped with showings.
“Right from the beginning, be consistent with whatever you choose to do… if you’re going to farm, be consistent, if you’re going to cold call, set a plan (and) stick to it, and that’s where you’ll see the results.”
Victoria Tavares
The work Emily and Victoria have done over the past year is truly impressive – tune in for our full conversation here.
